English Story: The Monkeys and the Moon (Bilingual)
One quiet night, the moon hung high in the sky, and the clear lake reflected its image. A little monkey was playing on a tree when it suddenly saw a "moon" in the lake. It excitedly called out, "Come and see! There's a moon in the lake!"
Other monkeys heard this and rushed over, curious about the "moon" in the water. They thought it must be the real moon and decided to try to catch it.
The first monkey climbed up the tree and tried to reach the "moon" with a branch. But as soon as it put the branch into the water, the reflection broke apart, and the moon disappeared. The monkeys were shocked and didn't know what to do.
Then an older monkey stepped forward and said, "Maybe we misunderstood. That's not the real moon, just its reflection." The little monkeys felt a bit embarrassed but still weren't willing to give up.
They came up with an idea: they all stood on the tree and formed a bridge, jumping into the water to catch the moon. But when they jumped in, the water splashed everywhere, and the reflection completely vanished.
In the end, they finally realized that the "moon" in the lake was only the reflection of the real moon in the sky, and it couldn't be caught.
This story teaches us that sometimes what we see is not the truth. We should use wisdom to distinguish reality from illusion, rather than blindly chasing what seems to be there.
